About

Crush/Repeat is an annual art show for queer community and friends where participants pick a small art project to repeat in some manner every day for the month of March. A celebratory public show in April includes a curated gallery of visual projects with opportunity for performances and artist talks.

Borrowing inspiration from a national project called Fun-a-day, established artists and first-time creators alike emerge from winter together using art as an act of resistance, resilience and growth.

FAQ:

If you’re new to the wonderful world of Crush/Repeat, here’s what you need to know:

  • Crush/Repeat is an annual project & show! 2024 is our 8th consecutive year and 9th show in total.

  • Crush/Repeat is for queer community and friends!

  • All of the art is made during the month of March. From the 1st - 31st, artists are encouraged to do a daily practice.

  • Participating artists pick a project with a connecting medium or theme. You can either do one small piece a day OR work on one or a few bigger projects, do a little work on it every day and then talk about your process in your artist statement for the show.

  • It’s okay if you don’t do something every day! We know this is a big ask and life happens. Whatever you make, we’re just so excited you made more art than maybe you did the month before!

  • We strive to create a show that reflects anti-racist and social justice values. Please be mindful that your project reflects your own experience. If you have questions, we're happy to talk through your ideas with you!

  • If you’re participating, please connect with us and your fellow Crush/Repeaters by sharing your progress throughout the month on social media

  • The web gallery launch is in April! This year, our show will be strictly virtual on social media and documentation of participating artists’ work will live permanently in a web gallery on this site which will go live in April.

  • If you would like to donate to support C/R, which is a fully unpaid project organized by two community organizers, all donations would go solely to cover ongoing operating fees, (ie: this website/web gallery), please let us know. Donations are appreciated!

  • Please sign up for our mailing list so you can be in the loop- whether you’d like to participate in a future show, attend the opening, or just enjoy seeing the beautiful work of your community!
